Poker Texas Hold’em Rules

Game and objectives

The game of Poker is a classic game that is played with a standard deck of cards. It can be played by a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 10. The game of Texas Hold'em starts from the Dealer. Each player gets to be a dealer by rotation. The cards will automatically start from the Dealer.

The Dealer item will circulate clockwise for each player throughout the game.

The objective of the Poker game is to arrange the cards in winning groups called "hands". The best hand wins the pot.

A hand consists of 5 cards - the 2 in the player's hand along with the best 3 cards of the 5 displayed by the dealer.

Poker Texas Hold’em rules

Poker is a game of betting. The player can choose a table or a stake for which to play depending on the money available. E.g.: table of $ 500 ( minimum account - money available so you can get on the table) and the starting bid for each game of $ 5.

The game is played to the left of the dealer and begins with the first two players in this direction. Automatically, the first player will be the Small BLIND – which means that he automatically puts half the stake (e.g.: $ 2), and the next one will be the Big BLIND – he automatically puts high stakes (e.g. $ 5) (called blinds because they are thrown into the game before they see their cards, used for a stake).

All players who get to a table for the first time, for the first game, put in the big blind, meaning high stakes. In the beginning of the game, all the money is automatically put on the table, the player does not have to do anything.

After the stake being set in the game – small blind and big blind – each player, starting with the first at the left of the dealer will receive two cards.

First round of betting

After receiving the cards, the betting starts. The first round of betting, given that the first two players have already bet, will continue with the player left of the big blind. Like the next people in the game, he has the FOLLOWING 3 options:

  • 1. Throw / FOLD = cards are not valuable enough to stake and throw, or any other reason;
  • 2. ACCEPT / CALL = pays the game stake, the same as the big blind;
  • 3. INCREASE STAKE / RAISE = = increases the stake, being forced to submit at least the big blind again - 2 X Big Blind.

Next, each player can opt for the 3 poker specific actions, including a RE-RAISE - if an initial player increased the stake once, the others may increase the stake to all available chips, or put all the chips with the ALL IN option.

Each player is required to act. If a player increases the stake and is paid by other players, he is no longer able to bet in that round. The idea is that at the end of a round, all players who continue to play must have the same amount in the game.

The player must act before the time for a move runs out; if the time has run out, he automatically gets FOLD, basically throwing him out of the game.

Second round of betting

After the first round of betting ends, the table displays the first 3 cards to be seen by all players at the table.

Next, the players will act according to the situation on the flop. If they have good cards or not in order to proceed, as follows.
Now the game starts immediately left of the dealer, from the player in the initial small blind position. He has the 3 options in the game of poker:

  • 1. ACCEPT/CHECK = the player doesn’t want to increase the stake;
  • 2. SEC/BET (call) = the player bets a sum equal to the Big Blind;
  • 3. INCREASE STAKE/RAISE = the player increases the stake (minimum of 2 x Big Blind);

The round - FLOP - is over without continuing the game if the player who made a bet will not be paid and the remaining players will fold. If the stake was paid, it cannot grow further and they will move on to the next round.

If no one paid the raise, it will win the pot, the dealer emblem will move and a new game will be started. When all the players accept / check - no one wants to raise, the next round of betting starts:

Another card is displayed on the table, reaching a total of 4 cards.

Next, it is possible for a player to improve the hand that he has. The first player in the game, immediately after the dealer, has the 3 options available to continue the game. Next round of betting is similar.

If someone increases the pot and the rest fold, the player wins the pot. If all players check, they go to the next round of betting, if the player who has a pretention and increases the pot is paid, they go to the river.

This is the last round of betting. Now the last card is displayed for the players to see all the cards (all five of them). Any remaining players have the same three options available.

After all bets are made, the remaining players show their cards and the winner who gets the whole pot is designated. If there is more than one winner, the pot is split automatically.

Winning hands

Below you can find all the possible hands in a game of poker. They are ranked in order from the lowest to the highest by importance.

Highest card e - If the table has no other hands, the player with the highest-ranking wins.

E.g.: cards down K J 10 9 7

Player 1: 6 5

Player 2: A 8

Player 3: 3 4

Winner: Player 2, because he is holding an A.

A pair - A pair, any of the ones available. A higher pair beats a smaller one.

E.g.: 9 9 ; 10 10 and J J. Winner: the one holding J J

2 pairsA pair made by any two cards. The highest cards win. If there are two players with identical hands, then the fifth card in the players’ hand will make the difference.

E.g.: Player 1: 10 10; 9 9

Player 2: 10 10; 6 6

Player 1 wins because the 9 9 pair is higher than the 6 6 pair.

Three cards or three of the same card. Three of the same card, 10 10 10. Same rule goes here – the highest wins

Flush - Cinci carti succesive de orice culoare. 6-7-8-9-10 , culoarea nu este importanta. Daca exista doua chinte, cea mai mare castiga.

E.g.: 6-7-8-9-10 and 8-9-10-J-Q Winner is 8-9-10-J-Q.

Color - Five cards of the same color. The color gets its name from the highest cards it has. “Ace color” is the best hand in this category. The color with the highest card wins.

E.g.: 3-5-7-10-J and 10-8-5-K-2 Winning color is: 10-8-5-K-2 because it has the highest card, K.

Full House- Three cards of the same type and a pair. In case there are two players with full house, the one with the highest combination of three cards wins.

E.g.: 10-10-10-2-2 and 8-8-8-A-A. Winner: 10-10-10-2-2 because 10-10-10 is higher than 8-8-8.

Four of the same type - Four cards of the same type, 5-5-5-5. The fifth card is not important and if two players each have four of the same, the highest one wins.

Small royal flush - Five consecutive cards of the same color.
